Popular Aid for Relief and Development, (PARD), is a non-profit
NGO registered in Lebanon. It
is committed to humanitarian work and the delivery of practical,
meaningful services in the fields of health and welfare.
PARD provides public health services to hundreds of
displaced Lebanese and Palestinian population in Beirut and the South of
Lebanon annually. Their primary areas of focus are mother/child health,
primary health care, sanitation and public education.
PARD
is registered with the Lebanese government as a Lebanese NGO working
with Palestinians. It was
issued the registration number 44/A.D. in April of 1999.
Current
activities in Lebanon:

Sabra Clinic - provides pre-natal and post-natal care, treatment
of gynecological ailments, family planning, minor surgery, vaccinations,
health education, routine lab tests, first aid (including suturing),
monitoring of temperatures and blood pressure and E.C.G. services. The services are provided to displaced Palestinian
families near Shatila Camp in Beirut.

Saida Clinic - provides
similar services to those listed for Sabra Clinic above. Located amongst poor government shelters bordering Ain El-Hilwe
Camp in Saida. Beneficiaries
are Palestinians and Lebanese who lost their homes during an earthquake
in the 1950’s.

Wasta Clinic – provides similar services to those listed for
Sabra Clinic above. Target group is mainly very low-income Palestinian refugees
who work in seasonal agricultural jobs.

Mobile Clinic - provides cardio-vascular treatment, vaccinations,
first aid, E.C.G. to approx. 1700 patients in the unregistered refugee
camps of Burghuliyeh, Shabriha, Naame and Jim Jim.

Mother and Child Care Projects in the clinics in Sabra, Saida,
Wasta and in the Mobile Clinic that provide women and children with
medical check-ups, lab tests, medications, vaccinations, family
planning, infant growth monitoring, health education, routine control
and medication of cardio-vascular patients and assistance to poor
mothers through provision of baby clothes, formula, etc.

instruction using audio-visual aids |

and rehabilitation of local women to enhance the role of the
community in combating bad health conditions |

instruction to target groups of local NGO’s upon request |

Regular
garbage removal in 8 unregistered camps in the south which are
neglected my UNWRA and Lebanese municipalities |

Pumping
sewage out of percolating pits in the same 8 unregistered camps |

Control
of drinking water in all locations & chlorination of drinking
water in 4 unregistered camps |
 |
Rodent
control & spraying of insecticides in all locations |

Control
of scabies and lice in all locations |
 |
Small
maintenance projects, especially in the displacement centres of
Beirut. |
PARD
has been providing public health services to the displaced Lebanese and
Palestinian population in Beirut and the South of Lebanon since 1983.
